What we find here at Villa d’Amelia is in fact a beautiful, well maintained villa with courtyard in the middle of the Langhe (Piedmont). Not only within this wonderful boutique hotel, which belongs to the group of Small Luxury Hotels, but also outside of the house, everything is done to make guests feel at ease. In the confirmation e-mail we are already given suggestions on how to best enjoy the time in Piedmont in and around the hotel.
Let’s discover Piedmont
The hilly Piedmont is a bit wilder than the Toscana and offers a spectacular view far into the Alps which pile up in the background. The landscape is fascinating, nature is in full spring splendor and the vines seem endless. The fruits that grow here can be found later all over the world transformed into delicious wines. An incomparable sight that also reminds us of how much work, knowledge and love is put in the excellent wines we can enjoy here.
Various routes lead along the vines, past beautiful vantage points and pretty wine villages (Monforte d’Alba, Neive, La Morra, Barolo, Barbaresco … just to mention the best known …). A trip to Alba, the beautiful Italian city with pretty shops and many wine shops, or to Bra, the city of Slow Food are worthwhile. Not to mention a visit of the Banca del Vino and the Royal Castle of Pollenzo.
Back to Villa d’Amelia
Our room is tastefully decorated, subtle colors, all freshly renovated. A cozy, comfortable bed makes us dream wonderfully until we are awakened by the rays of the sun to the very delicious breakfast. There is everything your heart desires, and besides we find here probably the largest glass of hazlenut nougat cream from a well-known Italian manufacturer that we have ever seen. 🙂
In good weather you could of course just lie by the pool and enjoy the Piedmont and the landscape. Unfortunately, the sky plays a joke this time and so instead we enjoy the beautiful, spacious lounge area of the hotel. Here we settle in comfortably, edit photos and shoot a few new ones. The bust on one wall of the room serves as a model for the pasta and pizza-damaged figure of Mr T :-). The decor is again very harmonious, nice comfortable armchairs invite you to linger and to plan the excursions. The wellness area we leave out this time, because the wineries and other attractions call.
Not only do you live in the Villa d’Amelia, you also experience the region and get your personal travel guide: Silvio (the front office manager of the hotel) and his team are wholeheartedly involved! Patiently and with much passion they advise the guests and take their time to describe the different wineries and restaurants and to respond to the individual preferences of each guest. This is where connoisseurs come to, says Silvio, and therefore they also have a Tesla Destination Charger, he adds with a smile ;-).
The hotel also has a restaurant with top cuisine (one Michelin star). Other restaurants with and without star can be reached in just a few minutes. This time we decide to go out and eat without a star. Silvio therefore recommends some of the small but very fine restaurants around the corner and we are once again close to heaven :-).
Yours
Mr & Mrs T
